Dr Steven Lee, a 26-year-old doctor remembered for his love of medicine, music, aviation and adventure, died after a motorcycle collision on the A40 near Ganarew, Ross-on-Wye, in Herefordshire.
Lee died at the scene on August 11, 2022, after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a tractor and trailer. More than four years later, his death returned to court when the driver of the tractor, Philip Baker, 61, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court.

According to the information reported in connection with the case, the tractor and trailer involved in the crash had several serious defects, including the absence of an amber warning beacon and defective trailer brakes.
Investigators concluded that the lack of the warning beacon was a main causal factor in the collision.
Driver Sentenced Over Steven Lee’s Death
Philip Baker was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the crash.
At Worcester Crown Court on September 22, 2026, Baker was sentenced to eight years in prison and disqualified from driving for nine years.
The court proceedings brought renewed attention to Steven’s death and the circumstances surrounding the collision.

He became an accomplished piano player and later qualified as a piano teacher. His interests also extended into aviation and volunteering.
