Anzhela “Angela” Pronina, 33, is being remembered by family and friends after dying from injuries sustained in a shooting at her home in Moab, Utah.
Pronina was critically injured on September 15, 2026, when Moab police responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Williams Way following a 911 call from a neighbor. She remained in extremely critical condition for several days before her death on September 21.
What Happened to Anzhela Pronina?
Moab police officers arrived at the residence at approximately 4:02 p.m. and found Pronina and a man with gunshot wounds inside the home.
The man was identified as 30-year-old Charles Anthony “Tony” Nelson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pronina was still alive when officers arrived and was transported for emergency medical treatment because of the severity of her injuries.
Pronina Dies After Being Critically Injured
Pronina remained in extremely critical condition following the shooting.
Doctors eventually determined that she would not survive her injuries. Her death was reported on September 21, 2026, six days after the shooting.
According to Moab Police Chief Lex Bell, Pronina’s organs were recovered for donation. Her family and those close to her were therefore able to turn part of the tragedy into an opportunity to help other people in need.
Police Investigate Moab Shooting
Police said their preliminary assessment indicates that Nelson forced his way into Pronina’s home, shot her and then took his own life.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including conducting witness interviews and reviewing information connected to the incident.
Police have not publicly described a relationship between Pronina and Nelson.
